Severn Cullis-Suzuki 20 years later

Severn Cullis-Suzuki became known as the girl who silenced the world for five minutes in 1992. 20 years later she is back in Rio and asks herself why people today still care so much about the speech by a twelve-year old. Find the answer in this video.

Advanced Rio+20-Aficionados all know her. In 1992, the 12-year old Severn Cullis-Suzuki gave an impressive speech in front of decision-makers from all over the world at the historic Earth Summit. In her speech, Severn showed quite plainly who would be affected by the decisions taken or not taken in Rio in 1992. After the summit the video went viral.

20 years later, Severn is 32 years old and a mother of two boys. She is still active as an environmentalist and a glimpse of hope for everyone who is committed to changing our world for the better. With her engaging personality and optimism, she is probably one of the most inspiring persons I have ever met.

I asked Severn what it feels like to be back in Rio 20 years later. Here is what she said:
